Service Area
Located along the northern reaches of the Chesapeake Bay, the Harford Soil Conservation District serves a diverse area extending from the Aberdeen Proving Grounds in the south, through the burgeoning I-95 corridor, to a concentrated farming community in the north.

Agricultural Assistance
Developing Soil Conservation and Water Quality Plans (SCWQPs) for county farms--with special emphasis on the Deer Creek Priority Watershed--is a key function of the district's technical staff. The district aims to develop a plan for each of the county's more than 500 farming operations.

Urban Assistance
On the urban front, the district is responsible for reviewing erosion and sediment control plans required for all development projects now underway in the county. During the past several years, the district's workload has increased dramatically--staffers currently review between 30 and 40 sediment control plans each month. The district is also developing a broad-based educational outreach program to promote the wise use of our natural resources through a variety of programs.
